Overview

ImpEx accommodates all three Jira deployment types: Server, Data Center, and Cloud. Although the first two share similar app features, Cloud exhibits some distinctions. 

 

This document provides an overview of these differences along with a hands-on tutorial for transferring your app settings to Cloud. Its objective is to assist your team in preserving app functionality during the transition from Server or Data Center to Cloud. 

 

Differences between Server/Data Center and Cloud

Currently, the cloud version does not have the bulk update feature, only import and export. Furthermore, there is also a difference between the supported fields:

Migrating from Server/Data Center to Cloud

Atlassian provides several migration paths for moving from Jira Server to Data Center or Cloud, including a Cloud migration feature for cloud-to-cloud moves. Ensure to closely follow their recommended steps.

 

Please note that ImpEx does not store any data that you should transfer to the Cloud, so you only need to check a few settings after you have successfully migrated to the Cloud and downloaded the ImpEx app in you Jira:

  1. Click on the „Apps” drop-down menu and select the "Manage your apps" option;

  2. Select ImpEx - Import/Export app and click on the „Configure” button;

  3. If an import/export limit was previously set in your Sever/Data Center environment, make sure that you also enter the correct data in the Cloud version;

  4. Set import/export permissions if necessary;

  5. You can also set permission for additional export options.

  6. Perform an import and export for test purposes to ensure that you have configured everything correctly and the migration was successful.
