Updating issues

With ImpEx, you can easily update bulk issues in JIRA.

(Please note that some fields are cannot be updated! For details, see the sidebar.)

The first thing you have to do is to export your JIRA issues to Excel with ImpEx.

See the exporting page to see how to export.

(Remember: It is imporant to include all the issues you want to modify in the export!)

After exporting the issues you can modify them in Excel.

After editing the issues, select and copy them with all its columns (and column names) like this:

To paste the copied cells, you have to open the update dialog. 
There are two ways to open the update dialog: 

1. press "b"
2. click on the button "ImpEx - Export/Update" (1) select the option "Update" (2).

After opening the update dialog you will see some useful information on it about: 

• a link to the documentation (1)
• a 3-step guide on updating (2)
• the colors that will help you when updating (3)
  
  

When you see this dialog, press Ctrl+V to preview the update.

If you still have something to change, you can do it in the dialog.

Please note:

You have to include the correct column names when pasting the values!

About the colors that will help you:

If there is any problem with the update, you the problematic cells red (1). 

If you hoover on the red cells, there will be an error message of it, so you will be able to see the problem (2).

The cells that will be ignored are colored with orange (3).

If you fix the problems, you will see the preview without any red cells and you can click on "Update" (1).

And violá, the issues are updated!
